This bold initiative is a direct reflection of the Renewed Hope agenda and the People-first policies of the Ondo State Governor at both the state and local levels. It is also a clear demonstration that governance under Engr. Ayegbo is anchored on service, equity and the upliftment of the common man. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as beneficiaries and party faithful trooped out to witness what many described as governance in action.
Speaking to a large gathering of party members, stakeholders, political leaders, youth & Women Leaders, the Council Chairman explained that the empowerment was part of his administration’s promise to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every corner of Akoko South East. He stressed that the selection process was transparent and inclusive, with beneficiaries drawn from all the *11 political wards* of the local government area. According to him, this approach was adopted to guarantee fairness and to reinforce the spirit of equity, peace and unity that the APC represents. He charged the beneficiaries to use the grant wisely to grow small businesses and become employers of labour, noting that a financially independent people form the bedrock of a strong and progressive society.
The event also provided an opportunity for Hon. Ayegbo to appreciate the Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for creating the enabling environment for development to thrive at the local level. He praised the Governor for remaining focused on policies that directly impact the lives of the masses. He further noted that the APC is not just a political platform, but a movement dedicated to changing lives and restoring hope. He called on party members to remain loyal, united and committed to the ideals of the party, while also urging members of the opposition to join hands with the government in building a better Akoko South East for all residents irrespective of political affiliation.
