First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has urged successful Nigerians, particularly entertainers such as Davido, Burna Boy and Asake, to establish charitable foundations and support vulnerable people, saying the responsibility of caring for citizens should not rest on government alone.

Speaking in Lokoja, Kogi State, during the launch of the national community food bank, she said:

“Good cars are good; a Maybach is good. Rolls-Royce is good, but still you can help. The burden on the government is huge.”

Mrs. Tinubu also encouraged Nigerians to value honest work, citing the example of an Abuja graduate who started an akara business after struggling to find a job. She said he later received support, expanded the business and now employs 12 workers.

In addition, the First Lady announced a ₦100 million donation through the Renewed Hope Initiative to empower 2,000 petty traders in Kogi State with ₦50,000 each to strengthen their businesses.

She encouraged Nigerians to embrace entrepreneurship and continue supporting one another through legitimate means of earning a living.
